Playing House

Since getting back here to Provo life has seemed relatively uneventful (which should make for some easy blogging!)

The majority of it has been setting up our new home together. We were blessed with the awesome opportunity of having a 3 bed / 2 bath apartment for *super cheap* at Miller Apartments, which is exactly east of the Provo Library (which has been a favorite place of ours, especially since taking our engagement pictures there.) Our contract was only from April-August, because they were trying to fill the now empty girls' apartments (Provo has emptied itself of young single women, who have entered the mission field en masse due to a recent age change. One such missionary is the fantastic Hermana Despain, who is serving in the Tampa, FL mission). We get kicked out in August when school starts again, so we're already back to house hunting (and taking suggestions, if you know of any good places!).

Anywho.

One of the first things we did was organize all of our stuff! I say that as if we aren't still in the process. Ha! This big place has been perfect for combining our separate accumulations. Each room has two desks and two big closets. Maybe by the time we move in a month, I'll have winnowed down our stuff to actually fit in the one-or-two bedroom place we'll have to adjust to.

Also, with all of our extra space, we have become a 5 star (ok.... maybe 3 star?) hotel for our visiting family, and I love it! I get to play hostess and make breakfast for everyone and pretend I'm that productive every day! We have two extra beds and tons of couch space, as well as a plethora of mattresses from our "Princess and the Pea" bed, so we can sleep about 10 people! (16 if someone wants a boxspring ;) )

One of the first people we entertained were J.J. and Erin's family on their trip here to Utah following our wedding. Allisyn loved playing with our board games, especially Jordan's camel hair chess set - she made up her own rules, which I think really added a lot to the game.
Trying to juggle Patrick *and* Maggie

They also played a version of Yahtzee which mostly involved seeing how high the dice could be thrown

In an effort to be the Best Utah Molly Mormon Ever, I have also got semi-caught-up with my scrapbooking projects - starting with graduation and the wedding, but also working back into high school. I'm pretty great. Also, I started blogging (on the off chance you didn't notice).

I have all of this spare time because so far my job hunt has been pretty.... unsuccessful. Perhaps the biggest disappointment was with the Forestry Service, where I waited a few weeks before calling to find out what had happened to my online submitted application. Apparently, the Provo Foresty Service office was no longer existent, and therefore, neither were the open jobs that I had applied for.

Humph!

My mom got me turned on to temporary job services, and those seem to be getting me more luck. It's really funny to me that it's taking this long to find a job. I'm probably just too picky, but I thought as a college graduate I wouldn't have to go into fast food! Ah well, my pride is slowly wearing down. Maybe soon I'll be the one you hear over the intercom asking if you want fries with that.

A recent adventure was a weekend stint of no A/C during one of the hottest parts of the summer so far. Thanks to the wonderful Trent and Nadia, we were provided with a small window A/C unit to try and bring down the temperature. It was pretty awful. Jordan went to work a lot  more and I spent some more time at the library, or just went outside (where it was actually often cooler than our apartment!). This adventure prompted some new meal choices (it was wayyyy too hot for casseroles), and we became salad experts! Or, at least, "chop up every vegetable we can find and throw it together with some pasta" experts.
Like So
We also inherited a lot of  (4 dozen) roses from our friends Kat and Adam (he works for a florist and gets the leftovers).

Ready to dry!
The majority of these were dried and then set aside to be made into potpouri [or...more realistically....to eventually be thrown out once I realize I don't have time or talent to make potpouri or their associated satchets :( ]

We finally got ourselves out of the house to make it down to the Manti Mormon Miracle Pageant down in Manti, UT. We spent some awesome one-on-one time with Grandma and Grandpa Walser (it was a nice replay of our trip down last year when I met them for the first time - hopefully we'll make it a tradition!). We had to hurry home the next morning in an effort to beat the heat in our still-no-A/C car.

The 4th of July also helped to break a bit of the monotony. My family came down en route to the family reunion, and took Jordan and I to the Stadium of Fire!

The Stadium of Fire Dancers getting ready to go - we were sitting in the section that waved flags in time to the flag girls to be seen in the background on the t.v. broadcast.

Cirque du Soleil!

See my bandaged up Dad? He had some adventures on an alpine slide with the Boy Scouts and earned some pretty severe road rash. Being my Dad, he did a couple more runs after that before actually going to clean the gravel out of his skin.

An actual, legitimate adventure was our trip up to Blackfood, ID for the annual Despain Family reunion. It was great to introduce Jordan to my family, who are all very impressed with the new engineer joining the club. I really wish I'd taken more pictures!
The water slide that was rented - Evan got himself pretty scraped up on it, but after getting bandaged up and pouting for a bit, he jumped right back on. True to form, just like Dad!
In a couple of weeks we have the Walser Family Reunion - hopefully I'll remember to take enough pictures that that can be a whole separate post!
